RAVENA — The week of May 21 through May 27 is National EMS Week. To commemorate this occasion, the Ravena Rescue Squad is pleased to announce they will be hosting two open houses this week.

The first open house will take place on Sunday, May 21, from 12-5 p.m. The second open house will take place on Tuesday, May 23, from 5-8 pm.  The Ravena Rescue Squad station is located at 1 Bruno Boulevard in Ravena.

During these open houses, the organization will have the opportunity to meet with the citizens of the community and provide them with insight into what they do and how they plan to meet the needs of their community in the future.

Members of the staff will be on hand to answer questions pertaining to their career field as well as showcase the immense pride they carry in serving their community. They will also provide equipment demonstrations, tours of the station, as well as showcase the apparatus.

In addition to showcasing the staff, equipment and station, there will also be instructors from the staff that will be providing free Stop-the-Bleed training, and Hands-Only CPR training. These free training programs provide invaluable training and knowledge that can have a direct impact on the health and safety of the community.

While members of the squad take pride in providing emergency medical services to the community, the Ravena Rescue Squad has recognized the need in the community for public education on items pertaining to public health and have embraced this challenge by expanding their public education programs.

The Ravena Rescue Squad has been serving the town of Coeymans, village of Ravena, town of New Baltimore and surrounding communities for over 60 years.  The organization was founded as an all-volunteer organization prior to becoming a career organization staffed by over 30 Emergency Vehicle Operators (EVO), Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), and Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians (AEMT).

The Ravena Rescue Squad station is located at 1 Bruno Boulevard in Ravena.
