RAVENA-COEYMANS-SELKIRK — Looking for a way to help out your community? Or could you use a helping hand?
A mass food distribution is planned at the campus of the RCS schools, 2025 Route 9W in Ravena, on Thursday, Feb. 24, and organizers are asking for volunteers to help out.
The distribution event is organized by the non-profit group Catholic Charities to assist individuals and families in the community who could use a helping hand. The event will be hosted by the RCSTA and RCSSRP unions.
Volunteers are needed to assist with the packing and distribution of food items. Volunteers are asked to arrive at the school campus at 8:45 a.m. on the morning of the giveaway, Feb. 24.
Foods to be handed out include fresh fruits and vegetables, along with other food items, according to organizers. The event will begin at 10 a.m. and will run while supplies last.
If you could benefit from the distribution event, organizers ask that you not arrive before 10 a.m. because arriving early will cause traffic and crowding.
Food recipients who are driving are asked to remain in their vehicle. Those who are walking should practice social distancing. Everyone is asked to please wear a mask.
“Adhering to these instructions will allow us to distribute food in a quick and timely fashion,” organizers said.
The event is part of Catholic Charities Mobile Outreach Vehicle Extension, or CC MOVE.
