Thursday, Jan. 23, from 10-11 a.m.

Family Storytime is a fun, participatory storytime for the whole family that includes songs, fingerplays, stories and movement activities. Early literacy activities are emphasized.

  • After School Art Club

Thursday, Jan. 23, from 4-5 p.m.

The library will supply materials and ideas for kids to unwind and get creative after school. There is no specific project or goal; instead, it’s an opportunity to gather and enjoy drawing and creating together in a relaxed setting. Registration is required at rcscommunitylibrary.org. For ages 9-13.

  • HEAP Drop-In Application Assistance

Friday, Jan. 24, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Do you need help heating your home? Come find out if you are eligible for Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) benefits, which can help eligible New Yorkers heat their homes. If you are eligible, you may receive one regular HEAP benefit per program year and could also be eligible for emergency HEAP benefits if you are in danger of running out of fuel or having your utility service shut off. A representative from Cornell Cooperative Extension will be present and will meet with people individually on a first come-first serve basis. Applications will be available if you would like to complete an application on site. No registration is required. For adults.

  • Romp and Read

Friday, Jan. 24, from 10-11 a.m.

Romp and Read will help get the wiggles out on Tuesdays and Fridays at 10 a.m. with interactive themes, stories and action songs with props. No need to register.

  • Friends of the RCS Community Library Monthly Meeting

Monday, Jan. 27, from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

The Friends of the RCS Community Library meets monthly to discuss ways to advocate and support the library and its services. New members are always welcome. Please note that This is an exception to the meeting schedule. Meetings are typically held at the library on the third Monday of the month. For adults and teens.

  • Romp and Read

Tuesday, Jan. 28, from 10-11 a.m.

  • Personnel Committee Meeting

Tuesday, Jan. 28, from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

The RCS Community Library Board of Trustees Personnel Committee meeting will be held. Employee handbook revisions will be the topic of discussion.

  • Last Tuesday Book Group: ‘The Book That Wouldn’t Burn’

Tuesday, Jan. 28, from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

The novel is “The Book That Wouldn’t Burn” by Mark Lawrence: Two strangers find themselves connected by a vast and mysterious library containing many wonders and still more secrets in this powerfully moving first book in a new series from the internationally best-selling author of “Red Sister” and “Prince of Thorns.” This program is for adults. Books are available at the library and new members are always welcome. No registration is required.

  • No Chair Yoga

There is no chair yoga class at the library on this day.

  • Silent Book Club

Wednesday, Jan. 29, from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

This non-traditional “book club” has no required reading and no book discussion. Instead, it’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy the company of others without the pressure of conversation. Simply bring a book that you’re reading (or have been meaning to read), join the group in the library’s comfy chairs and then settle in for some uninterrupted reading while in the presence of others. Covered beverages are also welcome. No registration required.
