COXSACKIE — Looking for something to do with the kids this weekend? The annual Riverside Festival will be held Saturday, Aug. 6, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Hosted at the newly renovated Riverside Park in downtown Coxsackie, the festival is always held the first Saturday in August.

After being canceled due to COVID-19 in 2020, the festival made its return in August 2021. This year’s event will have a kids’ area, craft vendors, food, sangria, beer, and live music all day long.

“This festival is a one-day festival that will have you making memories for a lifetime!” according to a statement on the village of Coxsackie’s website.

The musical lineup begins at 12 p.m. with a performance by The Early Birds, an eclectic mix of musical genres. That will be followed by southern rock by Beatin’ the Odds from 2:30-4:30 p.m., and The Refrigerators will wrap up the festival from 5-8 p.m.

A wide range of entertainment will be offered including Mr. Twisty, Mr. Snack the Magician, The Ghost Busters, a rock-climbing wall by Climb Time, Generation Axe and Whispering Willow Wild Care.

Try your hand at axe throwing — which made its Riverside Festival debut in 2021 and saw long lines of interested participants — or take a ride on a steamboat, the choice is up to you.

The festival is expected to host over 50 craft, novelty and community vendors, and more than a dozen food vendors with food options ranging from barbecue to Texas tornado chips, cotton candy, frozen desserts, ice cream and more.

Parking for the festival will be available at the Coxsackie Village Hall at 119 Mansion St., the senior center on Mansion Street, and at the Coxsackie-Athens school district campus on Sunset Boulevard. Shuttle buses will run continuously, bringing people to and from the three parking lots. Parking at the park’s boat launch will be closed from Friday, Aug. 5, at 7 p.m., until Sunday, Aug. 7, at 5 a.m.

There is no entry fee for the festival.
