COXSACKIE — Assemblyman Chris Tague, R-102, will be handing out COVID-19 test kits and KN95 masks this weekend.
The free giveaway will take place Saturday at the Greene County Jail, 45 Haverly Memorial Drive in Coxsackie.
Supplies are limited. Masks and tests are available on a first-come, first-served basis, Tague said.
Distribution of the supplies will go from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., or until they have all been handed out.
“The distribution will be operated as a drive-thru with a limit of one kit and one mask per person, and those attending have been asked to remain in their vehicles throughout it,” Tague said in a statement.
A second giveaway of tests and masks will be conducted Sunday, Jan. 23, also from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Tague’s district office in Schoharie, located at 113 Park Place, Schoharie.
Distribution of COVID test kits and masks comes as the county’s number of active positive cases of the virus continues to hover around 1,000.
As of Jan. 21, the Greene County Public Health Department reported 994 active cases of the virus, including 29 at the correctional facilities in Coxsackie. A total of 121 new positive test results were reported Friday, and 36 county residents were hospitalized with the virus.
Since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020, 104 county residents have died from the virus.
